I've always been drawn to art (pun intended). I have a need to create, whether it's a painting, a photograph, a quilt, or even just a 'doodle'. I'm usually attracted to simple beauty, design and composition. Clean lines. Patterns. Textures.
Watercolor is my painting medium of choice because of the unpredictable way the pigments mix on paper - it makes the process one of exploration and often, surprise. But as I learn more about acrylics and other mediums, I find a way into 'my zone' no matter what I use. And since I like to dabble and experiment with a variety of mediums (I call it A.A.D.D - artistic attention deficit disorder), I've started combining them - my love of painting with my affection for textile art/embroidery, and my zeal for photography with my interest of graphic art and printmaking. I'm passionate about exploring nature in all her seasons, colors and moods, thus I am never without inspiration to create. I 'see' vignettes everywhere, and I want to share my observations and speak through my art in a way that resonates with others. I want to inspire others to find and appreciate the simplicity of beauty that surrounds us. It's not often in this busy, crazy world of ours that we remember to stop and smell the roses... Recently I've been painting custom pet portraits. We all love our furry friends, and a portrait is a great way to celebrate the joy and memories we get from our beloved pets. It makes a wonderfully personal gift, and I get a lot of pleasure creating a special surprise for my customers. If you're interested in commissioning a custom-painted pet portrait (or custom-anything else), please contact me so we can discuss your desires. Thanks for visiting! |
